The Colorado Music Festival and the Rocky Mountain Center for Musical Arts (RMCMA ) are planning to merge by the end of 2009!!
This is a very exciting opportunity for CMF and the RMCMA—two great nonprofit arts organizations—to come together. We’ve collaborated for years, and are complementary—not competitive—organizations. We’ll be able to achieve more, and reach more people as one organization, still committed to providing the highest quality musical performances and educational experiences for the community!
“CMF and RMCMA are a great fit. We’ve worked together collaboratively for a number of years, and we know that the skills and experiences of each organization enhance one another, and that’s very exciting for all concerned,” commented CMF Executive Director Catherine Underhill.
The RMCMA will maintain its location and focus as a Guild school with a commitment to excellence and access, and will be the Educational Division of the Colorado Music Festival. Peggy Bruns, Executive Director of the RMCMA commented, “The RMCMA is honored and excited to have our community music school merge with the Colorado Music Festival. We feel that the synergy created by this combination will be very positive for everyone involved. The students will continue to have excellent instruction and be given expanded opportunities to connect with CMF’s world-class professional musicians.”
Colorado Music Festival Board of Directors Chair Victoria Marschner agreed, saying, “The Colorado Music Festival is very excited to welcome this new addition. Both organizations seek to engage and inspire all members of the community through music. This is a marvelous opportunity to expand the educational offerings at the Colorado Music Festival, and I look forward to seeing the merged organization thrive.”
The merger will enable both organizations to maximize efficiencies in administrative areas including organizational management and facilities use, engage in valuable educational and programming exchanges, and deepen community outreach efforts. “We expect this will allow for significant sharing of resources, marketing and programs, and will be a real positive for both organizations. We also believe that the combined organization will increase opportunities to secure funding from a range of regional and national resources, including the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District,” said Catherine Underhill.
